Powerhouse Church of Redemption’s Food Pantry Ministry was established in 2003 as a community and church outreach program, initially serving over 50 families and individuals in need. Over the years, the demand for assistance has grown significantly, especially as many families face increasing food insecurity. In recent times, reductions in government-supported food programs and community resources have placed even greater strain on households already struggling to make ends meet. As a result, more individuals and families are turning to local ministries like ours for consistent, reliable support.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry remained a vital source of support, continuing to provide food to families during a time of great uncertainty and need. The same commitment remains today, as the need in our communities remains high.
Currently, the Food Pantry Ministry partners with several churches across northeastern North Carolina, reaching communities in seven counties - Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Perquimans, Chowan, Washington, and Tyrrell. Through these collaborative efforts, we are able to extend our outreach and provide essential food resources to a growing number of individuals and families across our region.
This ministry reflects a deep commitment to service and compassion. The words of Micah 6:8 aptly describe the heart behind this work: to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.”
